Davin Seamon joined Steptoe & Johnson in 2000 as an associate in the firm’s Clarksburg office.
AREAS OF CONCENTRATION
Mr. Seamon concentrates his practice primarily in real estate transactions, mineral law, commercial transactions, business formation and governance, intellectual property, and e-commerce and technology law. Mr. Seamon works in many aspects of real estate law including commercial real estate closings, commercial leasing, complex multi-tract transactions, title insurance, and mineral ownership and development. His experience runs the gamut from assisting single families in purchasing their first home to helping large developers acquire thousands of acres comprised of hundreds of individual parcels; from helping local businesses sell their assets to assisting large publishing clients in acquiring additional mastheads and other assets.
PROFESSIONAL AND CIVIC ASSOCIATIONS
Mr. Seamon is, or has been, a member of the American Bar Association, the American Bar Association’s Sections on Intellectual Property, Entertainment & Sports, Business and Commercial Transactions, and Technology, the Maryland State Bar, the Young Lawyers Section of the Maryland State Bar, the West Virginia State Bar, the Young Lawyers Section of the West Virginia State Bar, the Harrison County Bar Association, and the National Italian American Foundation Youth Advisory Board. Mr. Seamon has taught professionally for Lorman Seminars and Professional Education Services International and recently presented at the 31st Energy and Mineral Law Foundation Annual Meeting.
Mr. Seamon is a professional pianist and keyboardist. He has played on numerous studio recordings and is currently performing live with A Rare Blend, a jazz trio based in Harrison County, West Virginia.
EDUCATION
Mr. Seamon received his law degree from The George Washington University Law School in Washington, DC. During his law school tenure, Mr. Seamon sharpened his knowledge of intellectual property law through internships at Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts and the Recording Industry Association of America. Mr. Seamon represented G.W. Law School in the 1999 Nathan Burkham Memorial Legal Writing Competition sponsored by the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers with a paper on emerging music licensing legislation. Mr. Seamon also served as the Vice-President of the G.W. Entertainment & Sports Law Association and was honored with a Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts Rising Star Award in 1998.
Mr. Seamon graduated summa cum laude from West Virginia University with a degree in Human Resources Management. He was a University Honors Scholar and was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi and Golden Key national honoraries as well as appearing in Who's Who Among American Law Students 1998-99. He also served on the Honors Program Governing Council and was a recipient of the Consolidated Natural Gas Transmission Corporation Scholarship.
