Evans "Buddy" King has practiced with the firm of Steptoe & Johnson since 1980, with primary emphasis in the areas of commercial transactions, banking and workouts and commercial litigation. Mr. King's experience includes significant involvement in mergers and acquisitions and all aspects of commercial banking.

Mr. King has been a featured speaker at West Virginia CLE seminars concerning bankruptcy and banking matters and is a past member of the West Virginia State Bar Committee on the Uniform Commercial Code. Mr. King is recognized in the 2007 Chambers USA America's Leading Lawyers for Business and The Best Lawyers in America in the fields of banking law and corporate law. Mr. King has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Clarksburg Mission, Inc.; President of the Harrison County Bar Association; President of Clarksburg Kiwanis; member of Board of Directors (President) of Sacred Hearts Children’s Center; member of the Board of Directors of Medbrook Children's Charity; 2008 Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce; and is also active in other civic, community and church activities.
EDUCATION AND PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE
Mr. King received his legal education at the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary where he was Managing Editor of the Law Review, had his Note published, and was inducted into the Order of the Coif.
He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and graduated with high distinction in Economics and was involved in numerous campus activities.
Prior to law school, Mr. King was a management trainee and branch manager for First Virginia Bank. While in law school, he worked for United Virginia Bank, as well as for the County Attorney of York County, Virginia, and for a law firm in Williamsburg, Virginia.
