Glenn Hare joined Steptoe & Johnson in January, 1995 and is resident in the firm's Martinsburg office. Mr. Hare brings to the firm over 35 years of experience in labor and employment matters.  His practice has included extensive litigation, employer advice on personnel and employment matters, union relations, equal employment opportunity issues, and generally all aspects of labor and employment law and employer-employee relations.

Representing employers in traditional labor law, Mr. Hare has:

  • Guided management during union organizing campaigns across the country and representing them before the National Labor Relations Board and the National Mediation Board

Employment Discrimination
Defense, advice and training for:

  • Claims of employment discrimination and retaliation involving: race, sex, age, national origin, color, religion, sexual orientation, disability or handicap, etc.
  • Affirmative action plans
  • Supervisory training: Title VII, ADA, ADEA, IRCA, FMLA, etc

Wrongful Discharge
Much of Mr. Hare's practice includes litigation and resolution of claims for:

  • Breach of contract
  • Abusive discharge and retaliation
  • Constructive discharge
  • Defamation and other tort related actions for which compensatory and punitive damages might be awarded
  • Settlement and release agreements.

PROFESSIONAL AND CIVIC ASSOCIATIONS

Mr. Hare is admitted to practice in the following states: District of Columbia; Louisiana; Maryland; and West Virginia. He is a member of Labor and Employment Law Sections of the American Bar Association and each state in which he has been admitted. He has written several labor and employment articles for the Louisiana Law Review, and he was editor of the Virginia Labor Scene and Special Union Report newsletters. He is also a regular contributor to the West Virginia Employment Law Newsletter, and has given seminars and speeches on a variety of labor and employment matters to numerous community, civic, business and trade organizations.

Mr. Hare has testified before the Maryland State Legislature on behalf of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, and is a member in the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce.

EDUCATION

Mr. Hare received his law degree from Loyola University, New Orleans, Louisiana, where he was a member of the Law Review and received several awards. He received his undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Baltimore and also received an MBA from Tulane University.
