Jan Fox has focused her practice in the area of labor and employment law. Ms. Fox has tried jury, non-jury and administrative cases and has argued approximately 65 appeals in the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals.

Employment Law
Ms. Fox has defended numerous state and federal court employee claims for:

  • Wrongful discharge
  • Breach of contract
  • Defamation
  • Various other employment-related torts

Employment Discrimination
Ms. Fox has represented employers with respect to discrimination claims concerning:

  • Employment discrimination claims in state and federal courts in West Virginia
  • Employment discrimination claims before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
  • Employment discrimination claims before the West Virginia Human Rights Commission

PROFESSIONAL AND CIVIC ASSOCIATIONS

Within the community, Ms. Fox serves as a public member of the West Virginia Board of Architects and as a volunteer with West Virginia Public Radio. She has also been active with the West Virginia Symphony League and the Kanawha Valley Chapter of the West Virginia University Alumni Association.

In the legal profession, Ms. Fox is a member of the American Bar, the West Virginia Bar, Kanawha County Bar Associations, The National School Board Association Council of School Attorneys, and participates as a member of the Employment Section of the West Virginia State Bar.

EDUCATION

Ms. Fox received her legal education at West Virginia University College of Law, where she was a member of the Moot Court Board and selected as a member of the Order of the Barristers. She received her undergraduate degree in political science from West Virginia University, graduating magna cum laude.
