Matt Hansberry joined Steptoe & Johnson in 2005. He practices in the firm’s Clarksburg office.
AREAS OF CONCENTRATION
Mr. Hansberry is an associate in the firm’s Labor and Employment Department. He is also a member of the firm’s National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) Team. In addition to his involvement in labor and employment litigation, Mr. Hansberry is actively involved in ski-litigation defense.
Since joining the firm, Mr. Hansberry has contributed to management-oriented seminars regarding collective bargaining negotiations, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and crisis management planning. He has also drafted a number of articles on various topics for the West Virginia Employment Law Letter.
Mr. Hansberry is admitted to practice law before all West Virginia state courts, as well as the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.
PROFESSIONAL AND CIVIC ASSOCIATIONS
Mr. Hansberry is a member of the West Virginia State Bar and the Harrison County Bar Association. He also serves on Genesis Youth Crisis Center, Inc.’s board of directors, and he is active in Rotary.
EDUCATION
Mr. Hansberry earned his doctor of jurisprudence from the West Virginia University College of Law, where he was a peer group advisor, a Baker Cup semifinalist, and a member of the school’s Moot Court National Team. Earning his bachelor of science in business administration, Mr. Hansberry graduated with honors from the West Virginia University College of Business and Economics, where he majored in finance while obtaining minors in economics and communications. En route to completing his undergraduate education, he studied business law and global entrepreneurship in Italy through Kansas University’s international studies program.
